KAMPALA, February 12, 2026 — The Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Kataaha Museveni, is set to release the 2025 Uganda Certificate of Education [ UCE ] examination results this Friday at State Lodge Nakasero.
According to the Uganda National Examinations Board [UNEB], a total of 432,159 candidates sat for last year’s Senior Four examinations, representing a 12.1 percent increase, when compared to the number of candidates participated in the same exams in the previous year.
Last year’s examinations were conducted under the theme: “Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment.” The theme underscored UNEB’s commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the examination process while adapting to the evolving social and technological landscape in which learners operate.
The UCE examinations remain a critical milestone in Uganda’s education system, marking the transition from lower secondary education to advanced academic and vocational pathways.
Meanwhile, the national Senior One selection and placement exercise is currently underway at the UMA Multipurpose Hall in Lugogo, Kampala. Officials from the Ministry of Education and Sports, UNEB, headteachers, and other key stakeholders are overseeing the exercise. Senior One students are expected to report for school on March 3, 2026.
